Hamburg Miniatur Wunderland Part 1 - EN

Hello Friends,

The Miniatur Wunderland in Speicherstadt Hamburg has become an absolute highlight in Hamburg. It is located on Kehrwieder, an island in the Lower Elbe, in a former storage building. The address is - Kehrwieder 2 - 4 Block D. In the immediate vicinity are also the Hamburg Dungeon, the Speicherstadt Kaffeerösterei and the headquarters of Stage Entertainment, which hosts almost all musicals in Germany.

The Hamburg Dungeon is a kind of haunted house or chamber of horrors with live shows and rides. Together with a visit to the Miniatur Wunderland you can confidently plan a whole day here.

But the actual theme of the article is - Miniatur Wunderland.

Here are some facts about Miniatur Wunderland:

The Miniatur Wunderland is home to the world's largest model railway.

  • It currently has a size of approx. 1,500 m2 and the construction costs are currently around 21 million euros.

  • To date, 795,000 hours have been spent on construction. It is constantly being expanded both in terms of area and, of course, construction costs and construction hours.

  • There are about 263,000 figures and 9,250 cars standing or driving on the premises.

  • There are 42 aircraft in the air, most of which can be seen on the airport grounds.

  • 1,040 trains travel around constantly and are more or less controlled by 1,380 signals, whereby the actual control is of course computer-controlled in an operations centre under supervision.

  • The total track length is 15.4 km and is illuminated by 389,000 LED´s framed by 4,340 buildings and 130,000 trees.

Everything was built with great attention to detail. To cut a long story short - let's just have a look.

Here are the first impressions from Wonderland.

In the background you can see the Palazzo Venezia and in the foreground the Colosseum and right through the Tiber River.
