France, we need to talk about your place names... (WARNING, some naughty language)

I've hitchhiked all over France, and I've experienced an enormous amount of hospitality from the locals. They seem genuinely interested and curious about my travels, and often seem slightly ashamed when their English language skills are not up to scratch.

When it comes to place names however, the French have no shame at all, as the following collection shows:

There are many, many more - there's even an official association for French place names that are particularly 'burlesque' - but I decided to put together this little collection, which are my personal favourites.
