Trips and tips: Rhodes - the island of contradictions – Part III
This island has so many themes to discover, that one needs to stay at least one week, so as to discover all its spots.
One of the most amazing places I visited in Rhodes, was the village Lindos and its Acropolis. Lindos is a picturesque traditional Aegean-sea-village with amazing alleys, laid out with mosaics.
The higher you ascend towards the acropolis, the better the view which unfolds.
Once you reach the Acropolis, you have a panoramic view of the village, the sea, and the small but spectacular bay of St Paul’s chapel.
On the Acropolis, you will see many ancient remainders amongst which the temple devoted to Goddess Athena dated 300 BC and the medieval castle.
I was quite impressed by the presence of a byzantine church devoted to St John.
On the way to the Acropolis there is this mural with a warship’s stern.
This is St Paul’s bay, where the wedding of my sister took place.. The mosaics were hand crafted by the priest of the temple who also performed my sister’s wedding ceremony..
Greetings!
Thank you for taking us with you on your journey in Rhodes.

I am glad you liked the post @alinak15!
Thanks for this great.
This is really an amazing city. I hope they earn enough from tourism.
I believe so..
Well, my heart stopped when I saw your post. I have to get to Rhodes! At least this year I have to go back to Thassos, because it was not enough, but (if God does not laugh now!) ... I hope to get to Rhodes in the years to come. The beautiful church where your sister married! Thank you!
I am glad you liked my post @bluemoon..and I have to go to Thassos...
As I said, I liked very much. It looks that Thassos is more wooded and Rhodes have villages and more traditional and beautiful buildings. The same for the historical vestiges.
