Trips and Tips: Part V – Mid Chios – Chora, the capital and Kambos
Chios is proud of the Kambos region. It is a suburb outside its capital Chora, and it has small mansions and gardens with citrus fruit trees, vineyards, mulberry trees to produce silk and many others. Those trees form small, private paradises for these houses.
Most of the houses were built of stone from the village Thimiana and were influenced by Genoese architecture. The orchards were watered by each house’s well.
Nowadays, apart from various rich people who owe these houses, some have turned to small boutique hotels, whereas in one house’s premises there is a small manufacture of traditional sweets and beverages named Citrus:
In chora, the capital you may find the remainders of Ottoman occupation.

The old traditional shops to buy ouzo, sweets and various local products
Visit Manaras (Address: Archermou 2) to eat traditional doughnuts and cream pies (sweet or with cheese)
Also go to Kronos (Address: Filippou Argenti 2) to experience one of the best ice-creams in Greece:
You may also visit the pastry shop Avgoustakis to taste these traditional sweets which taste like baklava:
Also, if you want to eat and enjoy a nice view, you can visit Apomero (Address: Kambos & John Kalouta 1, Spiladia):
I strongly advise you to visit this Monastery, named Panagia Voithia (The Mother of God helping) in Chora:

To tell you the truth I didn't see any, but I might have subconsciously looked the other way..😁😁😁😁
I would look the other way if I could, but it is everywhere in Loutraki and Corinth :(
