Mysterious Landscapes

Saddleback and Gothics.

Here we are in the Adirondack mountains staring down at the cliffs of Saddleback (right) and Gothics (center) Mountains. This Saddleback Mountain is on the East Coast in Upstate N.Y. and has massive near vertical cliffs that are known for their disconcerting exposure. It is 2:20 pm on October 27,2017; I have been climbing for the last ten hours finally arriving at the summit of Basin Mountain from where this photo was taken.

Ultimately I was to descend Basin Mountain and climb up and over the Saddleback cliffs. Gothics will have to wait for another day- even the hasty descent from Saddleback to follow the Ore Bed Brook down to the trailhead was to take another eight hours. Ultimately I travelled eighteen miles and climbed up almost 5000 feet of elevation. These mountains have long approaches!

Exhaustion makes for very sound sleep- even if it is in the back of your car with the back seats pulled down and your feet in the trunk! :)

To my Steemit explorer friends,

I have probably taken over a million photographs of the natural world since childhood; this is a daily series of some of those I most treasure.

Where They are From

  1. Many are from an organic orchard that I created on the hill above my home. When you are raising trees from saplings you are out in all weather at all hours and see remarkable things.
  1. Some are from my art studio and my efforts there- especially those on behalf of the Tibetan people.
  1. Still others are from my wanderings in the wilderness with compass and map my companions. Many are featured from posts I have created here on Steemit and I will link to those whenever possible if you wish to read more of the how, when and where.

Please upvote if you liked this post, and follow for more journeys through our mysterious and amazing world. And please comment as I greatly value these and will answer any questions you may have (and generally go to look at your posts of course since I consider a group of friends the most valuable possible outcome from efforts on Steemit.

Steem on as well....

The hobby is very interesting and needed extra energy, tired climbing paid off with the natural beauty at the top of the mountain. My best friend @throughmyeyes I have a question, why the title of this article should be "Mysterious Landscapes"?

Greetings know @throughmyeyes i'm new in steemit. it turns out we have the same hobby. But my hobby is rarely channeled because it hit with work. Friend if we can go up the mountain that is in Indonesia together a pride for me.

sure! :)
