one day in Greece #2
hello to all today I tell you the day of my arrival in Greece in Santorini.
In 1646 BC, a huge volcanic eruption, possibly one of the largest volcanic eruptions ever known to man, took place in Thera (currently Santorini), an island in the Aegean Sea near Crete. The explosion, estimated to be equivalent to about 40 atomic bombs, about 100 times stronger than the eruption that destroyed Pompeii, blew up the interior of the island, forever transforming the topography. It will have killed some 20,000 people. Like Pompeii several centuries later, a town of Thera, known as Akrotiri, is buried under a thick layer of ashes and pumice stones.
it's a beautiful city where you are totally absorbed by the landscape. the inhabitants are very friendly and warm.
I hope that you will not hesitate any more to upvote and follow me for the rest of the trip. Thank you for reading and I'll let you go back to the camp.
