The Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site, England. DJI Drone (video)
On the south coast of England between Devon and Dorset is a World Heritage Site, The Jurassic Coast. Huge cliffs, often mistaken for the White cliffs of Dover- but much nearer to where I live offered some amazing drone opportunities.
To create a 'more' seaside feel, I added additional sound tracks to the back ground music. Taking audio recordings of seagulls while I tempted them with a sandwich (and yes they stole my lunch!) and walking down over flat rocks to catch the sound of waves, I was able to over-lay these tracks at specific points in the video.
You will probably notice in the opening scene, the sound of a seagull. Just to clarify, no the DJI Mavic Pro drone does not record sound.
Instead of exporting the finished video in the standard 16:9 aspect ratio I went for the 2:35:1. This classic style of motion picture creates a cinematic feel. 16:9 matches the dimension of modern day TVs that follow HD or 4k resolutions, while the 2:35:1 ratio is used in cinemas/movie theaters.
By changing the aspect ratio I am in effect cropping the image- this is the reason why there are black borders on the top and bottom of the video.
Hope you enjoyed the video and please don't forget to FOLLOW and upvote :)
Nice place
Thanks. Was nice looking out over the cliffs.

I would like to stay there. look it this beautiful it is, but just one thing will be perfect to get with you steemit. and to invite friends to stay for a week if they want.
Amazing video :) That drone can get pretty high hugh? Makes me want to buy one too :) great capture :)
Thanks. It can go really high :) they are a good investment and great fun to fly
Do you actually know how high? Until you loose a connection :)
Mavic Pro can travel 7 kilometers from the controller, it can also travel up to an altitude of 500 meters. The altitude is rarely a problem because you always have a direct line of sight and direct signal connection. If you 'crack' the settings, some youtube videos claim they can fly 3000 meters high. Having said that some countries have guidelines and laws that limit the altitude and distance a drone can fly often well below the standard settings - coincidentally , my videos always meet these requirements ;)
Wow, that is a lot. I think there should be some altitude limitations. If it would accidentally get into an engine of a jet plane... the consequences would be bad... So i am happy you meet the requirements, as i am scared of flying planes :)
Top Work @thinkit That's some of the best drone footage I've seen by a long way ! Many congratulations, not just on the beautiful locations but excellent camera shots and editing.
That tilt up towards the mist over the hills was very impressive and the track along the coastal path featuring the two walkers made me want to fly there right now ! What a great stretch of coastline.
I pulled a few Ammonites out of the Dorset coastline last year. Next Stop, Lulworth Cove & Durdle door. If you don't work for the UK tourist board... you should. 100% upvote and following (for more of that.)
that's a resteem too
Thanks very much, really appreciate your comment. I think I got lucky with weather conditions and lighting. Great shadows and sun. You never can tell how its going to turn out, but it worked. had loads of footage but selected the best of the best lol
Thanks for watching it :)
Looking forward to seeing some of your stuff too.
you certainly had the perfect day.. I can't begin to imagine it in rough conditions.. well I can actually. I've spent a fair bit of time sailing along the North Wales Coast and some of it looks similar. I can appreciate the hard work in the edit !! still fantastic even knowing it's a cut down.. I'm sure blue planet's £1m gimble mount produced loads of unwanted footage.. I'm in London btw.. travel photos of thailand, love it there.
Great video, and the audio gives it a cinematic feel. I really enjoyed it
Thank you, I'm pleased you liked it. Thanks for watching it.
Good work @thinkit this is amazing video
How beautiful!!!
:) Thank you
