Thai mountain village. From a drones eye. DJI Mavic Pro

in #travel7 years ago

Chiang Mai is famous for its mountains and traditional culture. As soon as you leave the northern cities, many live a simple life. Farming could be considered one of the main sources of income in these mountainous regions.

Food produce is bought and sold locally but farmland is often hidden away deep in valleys or on the backside of mountains. Country lanes and roads are usually lined with dense vegetation adding another barrier to hide the cultivated land.

However, from up above, nothing can hide. This remote village north of Chiang Mai towards the Burmese border is famous for its strawberries- and they were in season, we just had to stop!

Will low cloud, bright sun and clear skies, it was the perfect time to fly a drone- and eat strawberries.

More noticeable in the photo below, the clouds look 'less' natural. Bright white is always washed out in photographs. Reducing 'lights and whites' brings it back, but to add contrast, quality is lost.

Darks and blacks have been increased in both to create more depth. A post detailing before and after will be written in the coming days.

Wow...beautiful place, full of nature and greenery. I love to visit places like this.
Btw excellent article.
Keep it up and keep blogging.
Good Luck.

Thanks- things look so different from up above.

These are beautiful landscape photographs taken by your drone.

:) thank you

Nice shots! I'm in Pai now and the weather is perfect... too perfect. The sky is so pure blue all day every day that I can't get the photos I want to take. Been playing around with hyperlapses but I need cloud movement... LOL the problems of living in paradise.

Yeah its this kind of things a photographer thinks about- not just clear blue. Moving clouds = moving shadows. Coming up to the driest time of the year too.

That second shot is the one! Nice colouring with a great perspective of that village.

I agree, I am kinda fond of low cloud and fog in valleys though.

Very good quality photos! Details are outstanding! What a lovely day to fly a drone! Could you tell me about your drone specifications?!
Cheers

It's a DJI Mavic Pro, These 2 images were taken with the photo function which is a much better quality from taking stills from the video option. Photo settings are almost standard since I always Photoshop the images in Lightroom after.

Great information! Still I cannot make head or tail of this, too technical. Haha. I will have to learn this one day!
Thanks a million!
