HOW TO, be the only visitor in the Forbidden City, China.
Everyone knows that all the main tourist sights around the world, are usually always packed full of people. Trying to get that one shot without someone passing in front of you is tricky. If you have ever traveled to the famous sights in China, you will know that it is never just 1 or 2 people sneaking into your shot, but constant crowds and tour groups! That perfect shot you were hoping for, turns into an endless wait.
The Forbidden City in Beijing is perhaps one of the cities' most popular places to visit. The number of daily visitors is huge. Queuing up to buy tickets takes forever, but this is the trick...
The ticket office opens at 08.30 everyday. By the time you get there- assuming you got there a little early to queue up, you probably won't make it through the gates until closer to 09.00. On top of that, walking all the way around the grounds actually takes a fair bit of time.

What they don't tell you, or advertise is that THE GATES OPEN AT 08.00. With this is mind, it is impossible to get in before buying your ticket at 08.30 - so what's the trick!
Tickets are not only valid for the day of purchase. Queues have completely disappeared by late afternoon, but this is the busiest time inside the walls, so don't go in late.
Buy your ticket at the end of the day to avoid queuing and come back the next day. You can happily walk by the morning queue and head straight to the entrance. You will have a solid 30 minutes all to yourself. Morning cleaners sweeping up will be walking out as you dash in making sure to make every shot, every angle and every view with not a sole in sight.

It certainly worked for me and my friends. You do have to use those 30 mins wisely otherwise the silence is broken and the train of people walk in!
