GoPro Hyperlapse. Fishing boat leaves the harbour. (video)
An almost forgotten timelapse video I created a few years ago was found on an old drive. Several summers back when I was in the UK I visited Lynmouth, Exeter and stayed at a nice B&B. The couple who ran the B&B also offered short trips out in the bay, either to 'Valley of Rocks', 'Crock Point' or up to the lighthouse to the east. We didn't get a chance to take the trip as the day after we arrived, the boat was brought out for maintenance or some kind of hull inspection!
I did get a chance to travel down to the harbour during the pick up to see how they did it. I mounted my GoPro on the roof rack of their Land Rover and pressed record.
In post editing, the file was sped up creating a moving timelapse- known as a hyperlapse.
There were many footpaths up and down the coast, all with amazing views out across the sea and down to the rocky beaches below.
The harbour in Lynmouth village was full of boats and they seemed to be coming and going throughout the day- everyday. It seemed many of the fishermen had swapped their regular 'fishing' jobs for tour trips. No doubt a boat full of visitors would bring more money in than a long day out fishing. At least in the high season.
At low tide the boats are beached on the muddy sand flats but make for an interesting walk.
When the tide goes right out, you can walk across the sand to get great views back on the village and coastal cliffs.
