Hyperlapse + Timelapse. The temple 100 years older than Bangkok. (video)

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

In a recent post I shared a variety of filming techniques and differences between hyperlapse and timelapse. The example I shared was filmed by my Mavic Pro drone. Today, it is the GoPro-from ground version in and around the Wat Pho temple complex.

Remember, a timelapse video usually sees the camera remain fixed in its place. Slight movement along sliders or rails are still considered a 'timelapse' where as a hyperlapse video will see the camera cover much larger distances and allow the viewer to feel as if they are zooming along too.

The video was filmed at one of Bangkok's most famous temples. The sky was blue and the crowds hadn't arrived- the perfect time to film.

For this occasion a gimbal was used. There are some clear bumps and wobbles which become more obvious once the video is sped up. At real time they are barely noticeable.

Inside the main temple hall lay Bangkok's largest reclining Buddha. The Buddha's length is 46 meters and the temple was built during the years of 1688–1703 before Bangkok was even established- in fact, about 100 years before during a time when Ayutthaya was the capital of Siam (today's Thailand).
