Ferry crossings Thai style. Ko Kho Khao (video)

in #travel7 years ago

A ferry crossing is needed to get to all islands, but this one was slightly unique. A simple roll on roll off rusty ferry did the job just fine, ferrying cars and holiday makers to and from the island of Kho Khao in south Thailand.

The longest part was waiting for the ferry to fill up. Once full, we left for the short 8 minute crossing.

With free run and all access to the ship I wandered up to the deck. The cockpit/bridge/wheelhouse/helm (not sure what you could call this) I found the captain getting ready to 'set sail'. No comment!

On an equally interesting/surprising note was a truck of monkeys, working monkeys! They had been trained to climb coconut trees and fetch ripe coconuts. They were off to the island to do just that.

Once we arrived, it was straight down to the beach for a quick swim.
