Just a Monkey Drinking Iced Tea....

When we visited the Penang Botanic Gardens I quickly learned that the gardens are home to a large number of monkeys. I had a slight problem with this. I find monkeys to be really upsetting and scary. Thankfully, these ones left us alone until the end of our visit when we bought drinks out of a vending machine. A smaller group of monkeys was waiting around close by, and I watched as they came up on a few people and stole cans of drinks right out of their hands! When the biggest monkey came for my drink I didn't put up any fight! I put the can down and backed away.

It turns out that these particular monkeys were much calmer than those I had encountered in India and Nepal, and I was able to relax a little bit and watch as they happily relieved the garden visitors of their drinks. This one is drinking my can of iced tea. I unfortunately missed his friend who managed to grab two cans at the same time and take off running up on two legs!
