Melbourne and back again / Einmal Melbourne und zurück

in #travel6 years ago

Hi Steemians,

it’s been quite a while that I showed you something new and today, I want to start a little different series. It will be less scientific but contain more pictures than can cause wanderlust – at least, if you live in Europe. Don’t be afraid, I will surely write something scientific again in the future.
My girlfriend spent three months of the last year in Melbourne, Australia and brought some nice pictures that I want to show you in the next posts.

We begin with some photos from the city region (central business district, CBD), where you can find some very impressive skyscrapers. Contrary to many other large cities, the skyscrapers in Melbourne are mostly relatively new and partly under construction. None of the buildings looks like the others and all of them impress by their different design and front color.
The first picture shows a few of the skyscrapers in the background. In the foreground, we can see the well-known Queen Victoria Market, which is a large roofed market. You can find there nearly everything that you want, like foodstuffs (vegetables, fruits, meat or fish), clothes, toys or souvenirs.

The next two pics show “close ups” of the skyscrapers.

If you look down again, you can find some interesting things, too. For example the following figurines standing next to the Yarra River.

If you follow the Yarra River to its estuary, you reach the Port Phillip Bay. It is kind of an inland sea in front of the gates of the city. Along this bay, you can find a lot of beautiful beaches which I will show you next time.

Hallo Steemianer,
