Museum Series - What's The Inside Like: Jakovali Haszan Muzeum
I am delighted to see that visitors to my Steemit actually reading my Statue Series, but for now I will start with a new series, which is of my museum visits, as to not bored anyone with my statues 😂 I will be posting statues again in the future though, so keep eyes open for them 😊
The following museum is located in Pecs, Hungary and it's called Jakovali Haszan Muzeum.
A museum? It looks rather like a mosque. Well because it is! Or rather it was...or it still is...I don't know, I will note it below 😁
This mosque was built ages ago when the Ottoman still ruled Hungary. The only surviving historical mosque (dated back at 16th century) throughout Hungary, although the condition inside is getting super old, it is still being used for prayers, intact with minaret (the slender tower typical of mosque), but only in 1975 the actual prayer room and historical artifacts were added.
But if so, how is it a museum, open for public, with shoes, going around and stepping prayers mats? This is why I was a bit skeptical when I read the brochure and was informed that this mosque is still in use, not just as a museum but as a mosque too, where Moslems in Pecs go to pray especially on friday.
The Islamic artifacts displayed inside are donated by the Turkish government.
There was a time when this mosque was transformed into a chapel tho, so you would find Christian related symbols or architecture inside as well, although rather disguised now that it's used back as a mosque.
This museum is now rather known as a mosque. When I visited it in 2007, it was still called a museum, however the Hungarians referred it as a calling tower and a public preaching place, dzsami es minaret.

Sura/masjid kecil Di Indonesia, biar yang terbuat dari Kayu Dan keliatan tua pun, jauh lebih baik kondisinya dibanding mesjid Di atas
Mungkin karena terbatasnya pengurus mbak.. Jadi wajar aja..
