Beauty in the Shadows - Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens in Pattaya, Thailand

in #travel7 years ago

Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Gardens are a fantastic feast for your eyes to feed on! The gardens are located in the province of Chonburi, Thailand on the outskirts of Pattaya, a city which is famous for a different type of nature! The gardens are around a two-hour drive from Bangkok, south-east of the city.

The current gardens cover an area of 500 acres and originally the owners intended to use the sight to grow fruit. The gardens are in their 38th year of being open to the public and during my trip I noticed that they were working on their next level of expansion, which can be seen in the background of the next picture below.

Nong Nooch boasts an array of gardens to visit including: a flower valley, a french garden, an orchid and bromeliad display garden, Stonehenge garden(displayed in the first picture), a cactus and succulent garden, ant tower and butterfly hill and these were just the ones I was able to visit during the scorching heat.

According to the gardens' website the founder Mrs Nongnooch was inspired by many gardens she came across, during travelling abroad. This may explain the influence of the British telephone boxes in the picture above and the background of the shot below.

Below I have included a few shots of the ant tower, which proved to be a hit with the children!

The cacti and bonsai trees were really quite stunning, I managed to capture a few, but I was busier looking with my eyes rather than lens!

If you are worried at all about your beloved mini explorers being bored during this trip, while mummy and daddy walk around with their jaws dragging along the floor in awe, have no fear! The gardens have their own zoo, which includes a bird sanctuary with some eagerly tame creatures.

This peacock was more than happy to show of its plumage, ruffling its tail-feathers.

The buffalo was not so keen to see us, trying to escape the ferocity of the midday Sun, poor creature!

This creature was hard to capture, but felt like he was at home with his fellow friends.

I would definitely recommend a visit to the gardens, if you are ever within the Pattaya area my advice would be to rent a car, as there are several nice beaches and scenic spots to visit in the local area.

Thank you so much for reading my blog, it is truly appreciated. If you enjoyed this, don't forget to upvote and follow to see more exploring in Thailand.

I am planning on getting a DSLR this year, all my photos are from my phone and a compact waterproof camera.

Wow, for a phone camera your pictures are amazingly crisp! I wouldn't be able to tell that they were from a phone camera if you haven't have told me.

That buffalo looks camera shy lol. Think the pink ones are the expensive ones.

It would fry if it was out in the midday Sun!

Lovely pictures! These massive cactus looks scary tho :)

Yeah, I wouldn't want to fall into one!

Very beautiful scenery I like your photography
