France, Avignon: Wonderful people & Amazing Architecture

Tip 1:

The train ticket machine does not have an English interface although there is a button that was suppose to change the language from French to English.

Don’t believe everything the ticketing staff tell you. Why? Well I purchased my ticket online at Voyages-sncf. Since I was not able to print of the tickets from the machine (Language barrier- no English) I decided to go directly to the office. They told me that they cannot find my purchase on their system even after I showed them a confirmation email. I had to purchase another ticket for 230 pounds…yes 230! When I returned to Paris from Avignon my friend told me that the staff put in the wrong reference number and I did have a ticket and just spent 230 pounds more for no reason.. :D

Plus my luggage broke as I was about to hop on the train :D

and of course I did not let that ruin my trip :)

I traveled to Avignon and stayed in the best Airbnb (Pilar et Roger - Avignon). They cooked a huge breakfast for me which could feed 3 people.

They then offered to take me around with their 2 grandchildren to see:

  • Place De L’Horloge

  • Palais Des Papes

  • Rocher Des Doms (Park/Garden)

  • Porte Du Rhóne

  • Pont Ć Avignon (Bridge)

  • Place de la principale

  • íLe de la Barthelasse

  • Le Vintage (Dinner)

That looks amazing! I would love to be able to explore that castle, especially. When I lived in Spain, I went to ruined castles and took photos. That was always amazing.

The food looks spectacular, too. Well, French food does have a reputation to live up to!

Nice work :-)

I wanted to try the french fish soup but didn't get the chance to do so during my time there :D heard that it's amazing. Which castle did you go to in Spain?? Maybe I went there before as well since I did travel to Spain after my trip in France. And I'm glad you liked the post! Thank you.

Fish soup... That sounds interesting. I was only ever in France once, stuck in Paris for a 2-day layover.

As for the Spanish castles, I have seen many. I lived in southern Spain for several years and visited many small castles. Castellar, Jimena de la Frontera, Jimera de Líbar... Of course, I saw the one in Córdoba city, one in Almodóvar del Río, a couple in Jaén...

If love to be able to live in Spain again, but it's not easy for non EU citizens.

Wow that's great! I will definitely visit more castles the next time to travel there for sure. And yes I completely understand.. I am also a non EU/UK citizen and was also previously trying to live somewhere outside of Asia but yes it really is not easy as you mentioned.

Right! I didn't even have luck meeting the right single lady over there. That would have been a viable option.
