As you mention here, most people have this very unrealistically grim view of what Pakistan in general must be like. But believe it or not, Pakistan is not run or ruined by terrorists. Rather, these people are still very few in the grand scheme of things, statistically speaking, and the country as a whole has made great advances.

I'm not an investment advicer, nor do I want to advice anyone in particular on how to use their money. But I personally would like more people to realize that investing in places like Pakistan might not be such a bad idea; It's an undervalued nation, with good growth outlooks and tremendous opportunity simply due to its geographical location in Asia. It's also not an unethical proposition, because it would actually mean you would be supporting a moral superiority in the region. By investing there, you are not supporting the terrorists that actually seek to tear down the existing system.

My mother invests in a Pakistani fund. Just saying. Nothing to be scared of, unless you are simply trying to gamble with money you can't afford loosing.
