Summer vacation – Exploring the Adriatic Sea part 1

Last summer my friends and I decided to go on a summer vacation to Montenegro, the small country in the west of Balkan which lays on Adriatic Sea. Montenegro, which means “Black Mountain” represents great mix of nature, gorgeous mountains and sea. We traveled to the Budva town, probably the most popular touristic place in Montenegro.

After the long night trip from Belgrade, Serbia through the mountains on the north of Montenegro and the Canyon of Moraca River, one of the most dangerous and terrifying roads in the world, we arrived at our destination.

Finally, after 12 hours of driving we see the beautiful Adriatic Sea on the horizon.

The most known and the longest beach in Budva is Slovenian beach. Along the coast there are a lot of beach bars where you can enjoy drinking a cold drink, restaurants, night clubs, shops and fast foods with delicious pljeskavicas (local hamburgers) and pizzas.

The second day of our vacation we found the Mogren beach just few minutes by walk from the Slovenian beach. Fine sand, secluded location, peaceful, right place for relaxation. Definitely one of the most beautiful in Montenegro.

The Old Town of Budva is situated on a rocky peninsula where is placed town fortress. The fortress was originally built on an island near the coast in the age of the Illyrians, and later connected with the mainland. The entire town is encircled with defensive stone walls. The fortress has been preserved to this day.

We enjoyed the great boat tour to the island named St. Nicholas, popularly called Hawaii. It is a really nice place with crystal clear water and untouched nature. Big, sharp, slippery rocks caused troubles and accidents to people who came there to swim though.
