Travel with Tara : Antelope Canyon, Arizona
The Antelope Canyon in Arizona, USA is absolutely mesmerizing! We had to take a tour with Antelope Canyon Tours which was very enjoyable. It was probably the last tour of the day. The lighting is everything in a place like this. The tour guide was very nice and was very informative. She told us that the canyon was formed by erosion of the sandstone due to flash floods. The flooding still occurs in the canyon. Years of erosion created this marvelous canyon and I'm so glad I had a chance to look at it!
I am astonished at what nature can create! It also has a rich history and the land is considered very sacred! It is like a cave without a roof and usually only a yard or two wide. Sunlight only penetrates to the floor of the canyon in spots in summer and during a midday tour, but the formations are spectacular all year.
It does not look like much from the outside but once you go inside it's amazing. All the different shapes within the canyon and they are so colorful. You literally get lost in all that beauty!
Our tour guide kept showing us all the different hidden shapes formed due to the erosion within the canyon. It takes a bit of imagination and then you will be like "Oh! It does look like a bear!". She pointed up and showed up one specific part of the canyon that looked like a silhouette of the Monument Valley.
Someone must have spent a lot of time in these caves to have noticed all these tiny details. This pic looks like a heart!
This pic was taken almost towards the end of the canyon. See how the lighting makes all the difference!
And this pic is the entrance of the canyon.
