My Trip to Zion National Park

in #travel8 years ago

The trip originated as a spot on a map my wife and I randomly picked. We were looking at areas between Los Angeles, CA and Denver, CO. At the time I was a consultant in the nutraceutical industry living in Los Angeles. Work had allowed me to fly to clients monthly or quarterly while working remotely in between those trips. Therefore, we said why not live where we want to? Frankly, as long as I was somewhat close to a major airport, there wasn't much to consider. We were newly engaged at the time and we only live once : ) So we decided to leave the hustle and bustle of LA and move to Denver.

We had heard very little about Zion, but a quick glance online it looked like a beautiful national park to visit. So this became a good midway point during our road trip to Denver.

Zion National Park is located in Springdale, UT and is about a 6 1/2 hour drive from Los Angeles. Archeologists have identified and attributed artifacts to the Archaic culture that date back from between 7,000 to 300 BC. The history and mystique in Zion is not only something you can see with your own eyes, you can feel it…

We decided to spend 2 nights here to ensure we were able to do some hiking and enjoy the sites. There are so many waterfalls and numerous different hikes to do.

As you hike, you are faced with massive sheer red stoned cliffs that are both above and below you.

Overall it was a perfect stop between a road trip that marked a big change in our lives. The views were appropriately epic and symbolic for the exciting times that were to come.

We left Zion with a new appreciation and excitement towards how much more there was to experience across this great country. Since this trip - we got married, got a Husky named Rupert and now our first baby girl : ) More to come...

I hope you enjoyed this quick trip to Zion, looking forward to this great new community at Steemit!

i love your pictures! started following you and voted !

Those cliffs are absolutely breathtaking! While I am not actually much of a nature enthusiast, I love our park called the Chimney Bluffs State Park there are spires of mud and sand that are eroded by the elements and constantly changing. I find them to be quite beautiful.

I would love to visit Zion and see the sights for myself! Maybe you can also visit New York and check out the Chimney Bluffs as well!

Nice photos.

Best wishes from europe ...

Very cool... My brother and his daughter went to see it and did some of the trails last year. He had some great photos with spectacular views like you have. I hope to go one day. Great pics.......

Thanks, it definitely made for one hell of a stop during our move. Will go back for sure.
