Thank you for this! I loved the desert. Unfortunately we weren't able to go on a such a hike because it was way too hot and not recommended. We chose a trail in Palm Springs up in Mt. Jacinto where it was 20 degress cooler ;-) But I hope to be back one day at a different time of year.
