I loved that area of the U.S.! We went on a road trip for 4 weeks and rented a car. Yes, it can be very expensive but we felt more comfortable to have someone (the rental agency) that could help us right away if we needed the help :)
Yep, probably it was better option to rent it. But I will only know in the end :) hope the ending is a good one :D :)
