RE: Digital Danger... how naive travel girls disappear

in #travel7 years ago

@budgetbucketlist That’s a fantastic bit of investigative work you’ve done. Unfortunately the internet has made scamming in all its forms a major business. The older you are, the easier it is to spot - but there is an innocent person born every second, and they don’t listen to their mother. Catching scammers and traffickers is well beyond the resources of police forces. They can only deal with easy crimes, like parking tickets and smoking weed. Thanks to people like you some innocent girl might be saved from becoming a sex toy locked in a deep dungeon.

Thanks for your reply, I can see you're not one of those naive girls. To me it indeed seems all too obvious, but the thought of a young girl falling for this is frightening. If only one girl reads this and opens her eyes my goal is reached here. I also got in touch with Couchsurfing to get all these fake profiles off, although that won't entirely eliminate the problem of course. You're right about the police only wanting to solve easy crimes. That became painfully clear to me once I get attacked by several armed men in Chile, which is luckily a long time ago and never got repeated: http://www.budgetbucketlist.com/valparaiso.html Curious about reading more of your posts!
