Recap of our Australia-trip

in #travel7 years ago

Today is the darkest day of the whole year. With only 6 hours of daylight, even less with full daylight, it's important to have good memories to look back on, to get some energy, and to keep our minds positive! So this is a perfect moment to have a small recap of our trip to Australia.

Australia-trip
Hey you!

Finally "down-under"

After a long flight, from Bergen, via London, Dubai, Brunei (cheapest tickets!), we arrived in Brisbane. On our first day, we visited Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, a kangeroo/koala park about 30 minutes outside Brisbane. It was an amazing experience to walk around and explore the park, and interacting with the animals. At the end of our visit, we found a kangeroo-mom, with a little "joey" in her belly-bag. It was sooo cute:

Heading north

After a 3 hour Greyhound bustrip, we arrived in Noosa Heads, a small, nice town. We relaxed on the beach, which was split in two, one part for the regular people (us), and the other one for surfers (the cool ones). It was awesome to finally see the Australian lifeguards in action, after watching it countless times on tv.

My wife, not worrying about the snow back home in Norway ;)

Rainbow Beach and Fraser Island

We went on a 2-day a trip from Noosa Heads to Fraser Island. After about 30 minutes, our car pulls off the main road, and continous on the beach, which actually is common! A shock for us Norwegians! :)

After a lunch break in Rainbow Beach, where I actually ate the best hamburger (ever!), we continued towards Fraser Island. It was weird to see the ferry that was going to bring us to Fraser Island. It just pulled up on the beach, and we drove on it.

Why make it complicated?

We spent the days exploring Fraser Island, watching out for the dingoes that was lurking around on the beaches. And of course snakes, spiders and what-not in our camp. It was a little scary to walk from our tent to the bathrooms at night, not seeing what might be on the ground in the dark..

Lake McKenzie

Let's wrap it up with a final picture from the most beautiful lagoon - Lake McKenzie. Crystal-clear water, white powder sand, surrounded by beautiful rainforest in a harmonic atmosphere!

When it's dark and cold at home, it's an energy boost with positive and bright memories to look back at this trip. If you have the chance to experience Australia - grab it!

Hahaha :)
For all you people that don't know Lavik-Oppedal (in Norway), it looks like this:
