Travel Update From Helsinki, Finland + Reunited With My Sister
Helsinki is an awesome city. I've never been to Finland before and I'm not disappointed! It's freakin' cold here. I currently live alone in Sydney and I miss my friends, family and hometown a lot. My sister flew in from Norway yesterday too meet up with me here in Helsinki! That was the best Christmas gift ever! We have three full days together here before she flies back to Norway. One day later, I head back to the Sydney summer.
When she got to Helsinki yesterday I had already been there a couple of days. I was busy at the SLUSH conference, so I hadn't seen much of Helsinki when she got here. We have been to the museum of modern art, which was awesome, and we also got to do some Christmas shopping.
The temperature here is -3 and today we got some snow as well! That really gave me the Christamas spirit ! I'm pretty sure I will lose that the second I get back to the palmtrees in Sydney.
There is so much amazing food here! Yesterday we ate at this lovely place. Great pizza and best fries we ever tasted.
We are currently at our hotel to chill out before we head Lost in Helsinki for tonights dinner. What a suitable name!
This is Moomin, a famous character from childrens books. We love Moomin in Norway. Here's a baby Jesus Moomin.
The Finnish people are great, everyone we met spoke really good English and they seemed very kind. One of the perks of being Norwegian is that very few people from other countries speak Norwegian. But, a lot of people also speak Swedish here, so me and my sister have to be careful what we say in the streets because Swedish and Norwegian is very simmilar.
