Our First Campervan Adventure of the Summer - Cooks Beach, New Zealand 🌿 [+ Drone Pics]
The Coromandel in New Zealand has gorgeous beaches and coves with just about every turn. It is a beautiful place to visit and this spot is about 2 hours from where we are living. So basically we have no excuses not to get out there and enjoy it!
Dan had a wedding to shoot in Cooks Beach so we decided to make a trip of it and stay a few nights. Dans parents bought a very awesome campervan and we can use it whenever- perfect! Cooks beach is named after Captain Cook when he came ashore here. It is a very tiny town consisting of mostly holiday homes. There is 1 restaurant (which was yummy!) 1 corner store or dairy as the Kiwi folk call them, 1 liquor store and 1 fish and chip store.
The coolest thing about having a campervan that is self contained (has a toilet and shower etc.) is that you can free camp in SO many places! We have 2 bicycles that we attach to the back of the camper so we can get out and explore the area when we arrive. We cycled up to the top of this lookout and the views were stunning!
Thanks to daylight savings the sun sets at 8.30pm!! We climbed up onto the roof as the sky starting lighting up, ukulele in one hand and a wine in the other. Pure magic!✨
I am a Canadian and I have been to your beautiful country twice, once with wife 1 in 1970 for nearly a year and again in 1990 with wife 2 for a month. On each trip we toured, ate, drank, scuba, and sailed. What a country it is, fantastic. The only reason I did not immigrate was I lived in BC and there was just not enough skiing there. Everyone should try and go there, it is like a mini continent with thousands of beaches.

Thats so cool!! Yeah I imagine the ski fields here can't even compete with those in Canada ! What a cool picture, it still looks pretty much the same haha. Thanks for sharing :)
