The street of the cribs - La strada dei presepi
Hi guys. If you come to Naples you can’t miss a visit to the most famous cribs in the world: via San Gregorio Armeno. It is a narrow road located in the historic center of the city. You can visit the best shops of Neapolitan presepial art.
The shops are open every month of the year but if you want to live the essence of this road, you must visit it during the Christmas holidays ! Don’t be afraid of the multitude of people you will find on the street, it will be impossible to walk :)
The Christmas crowd makes this environment even more special. Anyway, if you hate the crowd, you can choose a different period for this trip.
It's fascinating to observe the details of each product.
The crib hasn't only a religious meaning but identifies a society. Everyone can customize it as he wishes.
You can find statues of any size.
Some artists mix the sacred and the profane. Just like this...
At the top of the road, on the right, there is the Church of San Lorenzo Maggiore (my favorite .. but it's just my opinion, in the historic center there are many churches to visit, really beautiful) and the gate to "Naples Underground"...another world ;-)
Ciao ragazzi. Se decidete di passare qualche giorno di vacanza a Napoli, non tralasciate di visitare la via dei pastori e dei presepi più famosi al mondo.
Sto parlando di via San Gregorio Armeno che si trova nel bel mezzo del centro storico.
Per cogliere l'essenza di questa strada, piuttosto magica, ovviamente vi consiglio di farci un giro soprattutto durante il periodo natalizio. Troverete un vero e proprio fiume di gente che renderà la passeggiata piuttosto ardua (la strada è piuttosto stretta). Tuttavia, anche la folla caratterizza questo incredibile ambiente.
Se la calca non fà per voi, non temete: le botteghe artigianali sono aperte tutto l'anno; scegliete un periodo a voi più confacente. Troverete pastori di ogni dimensione e per tutti i gusti. Sacro e profano.
In cima alla strada, sulla destra, troverete la Chiesa di San Lorenzo Maggiore (la mia preferita..ma è solo un opinione personale, nel centro storico ci sono tantissime chiese da visitare, davvero una più bella dell'altra) con adiacente uno degli ingressi per "Napoli Sotterranea" per addentrarvi in un Tour che vi porterà in un'altra dimensione.
