The City of Stones - La città dei Sassi

Hello guys. Today i'm going to show you some pics of Matera, the "City of Stones". It was declared by Unesco "World Heritage Site" since 1993. This city is located in the region of Basilicata, Southern Italy.
The town planning of Matera develops within two natural amphitheatres : Sasso Caveoso and Sasso Barisano. They're bordered by Gramina river.

The history of Matera is very, very old: archaeological finds found in some caves have been traced back the Paleolithic Age. The first city dates back to Magna Grecia.
Over the centuries the city has undergone many domains: roman, longobard, norman, aragonese.
Every civilization has marked the incredible beauty of this place.

Today, many owners of the old houses have created in them beautiful B&B, luxury hotels, restaurants. I recommend to visit the old museum houses and to plan nocturnal walks.

Walking through the slopes and climbs of the Historic Center of Matera...is a fantastic experienc; Not only for the particularity of the urban material, but above all for the atmosphere that you can breathe.
Visiting Matera means taking a journey through time.

Southern Italy has many beauties. Unfortunately, they are in the wrong country.
Italy has never wanted to exalt the South. Why? Because.. giving power, building roads, railways, airports in the South means damaging the economy of the North of the same country. I do not say it, the history of this country tells it.

I want to tell you just this: Matera does not have a train station yet! In 2018 !!!! Do you understand ?

Ciao ragazzi. Oggi intendo mostrarvi alcune foto di Matera, la “Città dei Sassi”, uno scenario davvero unico nel suo genere, tale da spingere l’Unesco a dichiararla, nel 1993, “Patrimonio Mondiale dell’Umanità”.
La città è situata nel Sud Italia, nella regione Basilicata e sorge all’interno di due vasti anfiteatri naturali che caratterizzano, inconfondibilmente, la sua urbanistica: il Sasso Caveoso ed il Sasso Barisano, delimitati dal torrente Gravina.
Le origini di Matera sono davvero molto antiche: reperti ritrovati in alcune grotte sono stati fatti risalire all’epoca paleolitica. Il primo vero centro abitato è, invece, da ricondurre all’età greca, la Magna Grecia.
Nel corso dei secoli, la città ha poi subito molti domini: romano, longobardo, normanno, aragonese; ciascuno dei quali ha lasciato dei segni della sua incredibile bellezza.
Oggi, molti proprietari delle vecchie case hanno realizzato in esse bellissimi B&B, Hotel anche di lusso, ristoranti.
Se decidete di visitarla, vi consiglio, assolutamente, di effettuare visite all’interno delle vecchie dimore (adibite a museo) e di non rinunciare a passeggiate notturne, molto suggestive.
Insomma, camminare tra le salite e le discese del suo Centro Storico è davvero un’esperienza fantastica, non solo per la particolarità dei materiali della sua urbanistica quanto, soprattutto, per l’atmosfera che si respira.
Sembra quasi surreale. Visitare Matera è come fare un viaggio nel tempo che lascia sensazioni uniche.

Considerazione:
Il Sud Italia ha tantissime bellezze; purtroppo..la loro "colpa" è solo una: trovarsi in un paese sbagliato, che non ha interesse e, soprattutto, non vuole esaltarle. Perchè ? Creare infrastrutture, servizi, industrie al Sud..significherebbe minare l'economia dell'altra parte d'Italia, quella per la quale tale pseudo nazione è stata creata.
Non lo dico io, lo dice la Storia. Basta solo ricercare e studiare la vera Storia ed approfondire determinate tematiche. E poi, se a Matera, nel 2018..manca ancora la stazione...un motivo ci sarà...o no ?
