Gorce National Park and Łopien in Poland [3 Days of Hiking]
Reality is Best Experienced on Foot
Day 1
Today I took a 12 km hike through Gorce National Park in southern Poland which covers central and northeastern parts of the Gorce Mountains, part of the Western Beskids. The hike took me 3 hours.
With a temperature of 6°C it was very pleasant to walk, and my lungs were happy to indulge that natural oxygen therapy.
Watching all those rivers there I got thirsty very quick, but missed the opportunity to take a sip of this cold, clear mountain water.
Tomorrow I'm heading for an even longer hike starting in the morning, today was just about scenting the air.
I did not expect to see any wild animals today.
The signs were there, but I ignored them.
To be Good Means to be Happy
So it took me by surprise when two does stood not far away from me. Reaching for my mobile phone, the sound of velcro cracking run them off, so much for progress.
Then I stumbled into a fox. But as soon as I approached him, he toddled away a bit, looked back and waited for my next move. Time for an optical zoom I guess.
Midways It was time to stretch my hamstrings a little.
Tomorrow I will take that sip of mountain water out of my hand, the craving is almost unbearable :)
A last admiration of the impressive flora in this 70,30 km² big national park ...
... before heading again home.
Day 2
On the second day I took a a shorter walk of 5.4 km in length to Łopien in the Island Beskids.
Day 3
Back again to the national park for 8.5 km, a fun circular route up the mountain. More snow, no fauna.

In Polen war ich noch nie ! Just came back from a Weekend in Bratsilava. Schön langsam fange ich an the East Block zu exploren.

Den Ostblock gibt es schon seit Herbst 1989 nicht mehr :) Osteuropa ist riesengroß, Polen grenzt an Finnland und so weit oben war ich auch noch nie. Hoffe du hattest eine angenehme Zeit? LG.

I'm freezing now! So you managed to take me along on your little (!) hike.
If you had heeded the advice of the first sign you would have dressed appropriately doe-friendly. It looks to me like that sensible chap had an old fashioned satchel with quiet straps and buckles. Can't say you weren't well advised. I expect more fauna on the next hike!
It was really pleasant, long johns, balaclava and scarf weren’t really necessary, and look at the shadow of the fox! :) I promise to improve, but without optical zoom I will probably have to crawl commando-style to catch a descent shot :)
That's the initiative I like to hear! Take your diving gear along while you are at it and explore that pool next time!
My demands are entirely your own fault for raising the bar this high with all your walking that takes us chair-folk to ever more exciting places!

Thank you, I think I enjoyed them already, now I’m even :) They got a sauna somewhere there, otherwise its just water, snow and trees :)
