Helsinki - cold laconic beauty of the heart of Finland.

This year we visited Finland twice. This was a good opportunity to get acquainted with this amazing northern country. We flew to Helsinki - a compact metropolitan city on the coast of the Gulf of Finland.

It is worth noting that Helsinki is very expensive to stay. The architecture of the city is rough and majestic, powerful buildings, a lot of stone, it is often possible to meet rock in the city, paved roads, there are not so many cars, there are very few high-rise buildings in the center.

Finns are fans of the sauna. Almost every apartment and absolutely every house has it, and some have two. No wonder for the northern country. But for them it is a cult, even at conferences they arrange saunas, accessible to participants. I was confused by this fact when I heard about it for the first time, but soon I got used to the attitude of the Finns to the sauna.

Predominantly in the diet of Finns, fish, meat, salads, everything natural and healthy, are predominant in the buffet, when you at a fixed cost you can recruit everything you want from the options offered in unlimited quantities.

Another interesting sauna with the sea pool Allas - it is located on a well-known market square past which the tourist can not pass.

This sports complex in the open air consists of three swimming pools, several saunas, a restaurant and cafes, numerous decks and levels where tourists and locals can meet and relax.

On the market square, local people often sell tidbits in tents: mushrooms, berries, deer fur, wool clothes, etc.

Nearby is the Assumption Cathedral - the Orthodox Cathedral, which was built when Finland was part of the Russian Empire.

From here depart ferries to nearby islands and also international communication to Estonia and Sweden.

We went to the heart of the city to the Senate Square. On the hill stands the cathedral. From the top steps of the cathedral's staircase, the sea, the square, and almost the entire city are magnificently visible. Senate building, Monument to Alexander II, University.
