In the Ancient Ruins of Phi Mai
The ancient ruins of Phi Mai was once a part of the glorious Khmer Empire and new studies have shown that it was built in the 7th century. It was an amazing walk from the first meter because of the naga bridge that welcomes all visitors. As you walk across the bridge through the temple's entrance, most are in awe of the first sight of the inner city.
As we walked in close to the main hall, I could see the amazing roof in the shape of a pineal gland, one balancing on top of the other. I'm still trying to understand how it's lasted this long and how the rocks used originate from over 1000 km meters away.
I made sure to walk through every hall because history has always intrigued me. I felt like I was part of life in an ancient era as I walked through the halls.
As I walked through the outer walls of the temple, I saw locals sitting around conversing and some were reading books. It was a pleasant sight to see the calm and peace in the ancient temple. I'll definitely go back to explore more next time I'm in Nakhon Ratchasima.

I get that same feeling, of being a part of ancient history, when walking through Mayan and Aztec ruins in Mexico. Thanks for sharing these intriguing photos of an era long gone.
