Travel Tuesdays: Ghar il-Kbir ("Big Cave") Complex, Malta
Hello Travelers! Today I'm going to take you to a very cool place, an underground cave complex in Malta where people dwelt as recently as 1835! (Then the British came and made them leave.) Though now overgrown with brush, they are still in remarkably good condition, perhaps because of being quite far away from the urban areas of the country and therefore only being visited by those willing to take a good hike. I explored these caves in 2014 while hiking with my friend Heinz. (The pictures with me on them were taken by him.)
I really enjoy exploring caves, but I'm not so sure I'd like to live in one. How about you?
Thanks for reading!
~Stephanie
Thank you very much for sharing your article about the bid cave complex in Malta, Stephanie. Funny thing, we live here in Malta quite some time now, but have never been to this cave ... have been to some but not this :)
Keep up the great work and thank you very much for sharing the cave article!
Hey :) Nice to connect! Yeah I lived in Malta for 3 years, so I got to explore a lot of places. There are some that I never got to either though. ;)
Although it's such a small archipelago, there is always something to explore here.
Like a little treasure chest :)
I love exploring in general. Done little of it yet, personally, but soon...
Thanks for reading and commenting. :) I wish you some adventures soon!
I thank you, too :) I'm going to do a photo workshop on the sea coast in a few days so that counts. For now.
Nice :)
