Cruising the Balinese Oceans on a Super Fast Boat
In today's blog we're leaving Lembongan behind for Ubud, the cultural heart of Bali. But like I mentioned before we will be back for an unforgettable day trip that we only found out about later. So on this day, we headed out after breakfast down to the beachfront where we will be boarding this beast of a boat. From Lembongan to Padangbai we have about an hour to an hour and a half ocean crossing. From Padangbai we'll take a taxi up to Ubud. A protip for you if you travel to Bali for the first time is booking your taxi via the boat company. It just streamlines the whole journey. As you arrive in Padangbai they will show you to your taxi and they'll drop you at your front door no questions asked. The scenery, once you arrive back on the mainland will now start changing every few kilometers.

For now, we leave the island behind as we head into the rice fields and jungles of Bali. The photo above is where we are heading to for the next few days which turns out to be some of the most amazing days of my life to date. Once we arrived the service was just second to none. At the reception, we got the friendliest of greeting, a refreshing towel, and fresh lime juice. The lime juice alone was worth the visit but then we are shown to our room something straight out of a movie with ornate carved door and bathroom with hand crafted slate finishes - just amazing. Another bonus about staying here is they have in house scooter rentals and they are brand new, the best scooter we had in all of Bali in fact. The villa is a little drive out of town making it a peaceful retreat if quiet is what you are after and if you want to spice up your night it's a five-minute drive to down town. Or if you'd like you can order in. The staff will turn your take away box and serve it up as a feast on the terrace. From up there, it feels like you can see forever and a day.
We travel not to escape life but for life not to escape us.
Peace be the journey.
That boat surely looks fast, 6 engines on the back, how much horse power was 1 engine?
They are generally 250 each...
