Canterbury Tales
Canterbury is a historic city in Kent, England. It is a UNESCO world heritage site and full of beautiful buildings which seem to whisper their stories to you as you walk past.
It was so interesting I actually forgot to take many pictures, and the ones I did take are mainly of my family, but here are the best of the rest.
The Old Weaver's House, built in 1507, was a workshop for Hugenots who fled persecution in the 16th & 17th centuries. It is now a restaurant.
St. Augustine's Abbey Gateway (built 1301). This was the spot where Christianity was first brought to Anglo-Saxon England by St. Augustine in 597. King Aethelbert granted the missionary the right to build a splendid church on the wishes of his wife.
The River Stour runs through the middle of the city.
An early 20th Century factory, now converted into a cocktail bar & cinema.
Medieval knights on a monument
Canterbury Cathedral - originally built in 597, its is one of the oldest & most famous churches in England
Greyfriars Chapel, the only building remaining from a Franciscan monastery built in 1267
