Visiting tourist sites in pandemic times
This was one of our few trips last year.
Exactly 6 months ago, and it seemed like an eternity ago.
Everything changed soon after. And if we had known in advance what would happen next, we would probably have traveled more last year.
As for the last. Because it may really be the last time.
And yet, this was not an ordinary and normal visit to a tourist site then.
Because this year we hadn't visited many others anyway.
And it was really like the last one.
I took a lot of pictures (with the phone, because with a camera is forbidden). In fact, photography on the site is prohibited, no matter whether by phone or camera, as is the case in many places and tourist sites in Bulgaria (if someone goes to travel to this country, he should be aware of this unpleasant fact, especially if he likes to photograph religious architecture).
But there were so many people inside, mostly students, who were also taking pictures with their phones that I couldn't help but do it.
So, I took a bunch of pictures there that I don't even know what they're for. But I did it - as if for the last time.
It felt like we were Asians on holiday in Europe - you know how they shoot. That's how we shot. That's how I shot.
But why?
Let me start with the fact that this is a Thracian tomb. The tourist site is called 'Thracian tomb'. Or more precisely Thracian tomb of Aleksandrovo.
I'm interested in history. But not in such an ancient history. I mean, this part of the history isn't the most interesting to me.
Although it depends. And it also depends on the history of the particular country in question. Because I am interested in some particular things about Bulgaria, but when it comes to other countries, then there are other historical events and periods that draw my attention.
What I'm trying to say is that Antiquity is not the most interesting period in Bulgarian history for me.
And not only that.
Coming here, I expected to enter a real tomb, located somewhere on a hill or in a field, where its original location is.
I did not expect to enter a model, replica, installation of the tomb, located indoors and in a museum.
You know that the feeling cannot be the same.
That it is not authentic.
Well, what in our lives can already be called authentic anyway ...
But to see all this building material, all this stone piled up indoors is a strange feeling.
And I guess I will have to publish the rest of the pictures in a separate post because they are already too many.
