Hello my dear friends. Continuing the tour of Western Ukraine, I invite you today on the feast of St. Martin in the city of Mukachevo.

Do you know why my photographs show the geese? Because St. Martin is the patron saint and poultry. Therefore, the city of Mukachevo you can see many monuments of this bird.

This year, St. Martin's Day celebrated from November 11th to November 13th. My husband and I were on this holiday. It was so amazing that I decided to share with you this event. It is worth noting that St. Martin is not only revered saints, but also is the patron of the city of Mukachevo.

This year also marked the 1700th anniversary of the city's patron saint. holiday celebration takes place at the Peace Square in the city of Mukachevo. In the days of the festival begins its work to the Holiday Fair of Saint Martin's Day. The best winemakers throughout the Transcarpathian Ukraine bring their wine to the fair. And not only winemakers delight guests of the festival. Bring their products and beekeepers and confectioners and cheese makers. Traditionally, also fried skewers, baked potatoes, roasted tasty sausages. Holiday fun runs. Hungry no one remains.

My husband and I have never seen such a celebration, and we were very interested. We saw the opening of the St. Martin's Day. In the streets of the beautiful city, we saw how are the children with flashlights. Then we saw a holy act, through which knew the legend of St. Martin. And we remember the joust and demonstrations of medieval cannon shots.

And here the listen to an interesting legend:

It was autumn. In the whistling, howling biting cold wind. It permeates. Soldiers dream of a warm hearth and quickened their pace. Here they have already entered the city gates. The soldiers did not see who was sitting at the city gates of the old, half-naked man. From cold and hunger, he knocked his teeth and trembling voice asked for a small alms. But the soldiers passed him hard, quick steps. They did not even deign beggar eyes. Martin, who led his legion, sitting on a horse in the ornate, long red cape. When he saw merznuschego and hungry beggar, begging, then, to the surprise of the soldiers, he stopped the legion and drew his sword. The soldiers do not understand what's the matter. What's he going to do? Why he took the sword? After a helpless man sitting in front of him, a beggar. And Martin calmly took his left hand for his red cape and a sharp sword cut it half, then a quick movement threw a piece of capes in the hands of the poor. Then he took from his bag the bread and gave it to the beggar. The old man would like to thank Martin, but he already rode into town Amis.

On the first day my husband and I walked around the festival site, tasted young and tasty wine, and then we got to the church of St. Martin, which was held in a festive prayer service. That was awesome. After the prayer we were shown was a chic children's performance in honor of the holiday. And we lit lanterns, and got on the flash mob, which laid out the numbers of the Lantern "1700". Already with flashlights, we went to the City Hall. Near the Town Hall solemnly poured earth young wine. This is to ensure that the next year was fertile. After the Town Hall, we solemnly went to the festival site. There are already before the end of the day we watched joust, watched the fire show, listening to the early music ensemble "Kings & Beggars".

Unfortunately we could not long be delayed. We had to go back to another city in our Hotels.

I hope you liked my story. Follow me and we will go back in an interesting journey. Thank you for attention.

Дякую дякую)))))))))

Its funny, when I read the legend of Saint-Martin in your own words, I imagined Ukrainian or Russian soldiers and officers, in the XIXth century. It is only at the end that I realized that this legend was from Roman time.

Thank you to read and share your opinion))
