The Main Building in Tondo-sa, Daewung-Joen Hall
There was Daewung-Jeon next to the 5 story pagoda. It was a really grandiose building.
People were praying in the hall. I took the photos of praying people in the silhouette.
There were two names in Daewung-Jeon. Daewung-jeon was the first name written in the front board. Daewung means the great man.
The second name was Daebangkwang-jeon which was written in the rear board. Daebangkwang means the largest place.
The scenery from the other side of Daewung-Jeon was so beautiful as below
It was very curious why they put two names in one building. It was a first case ever since I had looked over the temples.
Standing in front of the building, I was thinking the reason why.
Finally. I got to the conclusion.
In my opinion, in fact those two names seemed to have same meaning. The place for the great man must be the largest place.
Then I looked around the hall. At first, what I’d like to introduce you is the steps. The steps seemed like to symbolize the entrance to the paradise. The guard stone of the steps were of the patterns for the paradise.
The patterns at the center of the steps were not aware for me. It looked like the cloud or the lotus.
The lotus patterns on the foundation stone were very unique. It showed the importance of Daewuing-jeon in this temple.
The skill of touching the cornerstones made me remind the architectural style of Shilla dynasty.
It seemed that those stones had been existed from Shilla dynasty.
This Daewung-jeon hall seemed like to preserve the history from the ancient kingdom.
I like it..interesting as always , .thanks !
Good photos and an interesting story! Such an ancient beautiful place, thank you for sharing with us. But now it is very interesting to know what these patterns mean? Maybe I'll look for an answer on the Internet.
Usually those patterns in Buddhism mean the paradise
Thanks for taking us through such a nice tour of the temple through your blog. I imagine how amazing to be there but also amazing you took it upon yourself to take us on a tour around the temple even from another part of the world. You’re much appreciated

@slowwalker,
I think these stone designs are got high quality than your previous visits (That I read before)! Coz the entrance and lotus, they were designed (crafted) perfectly! It's amazed to see, coz my country also got these designs in the ancient temples as well!
I like the way you express Great Man and Largest Place and I agree with your conclusion!
Cheers~
