Exploring The National Park & Waterfalls In Mauritius! ๐ฟ๐๐ณ
Mauritius offers gorgeous nature all around - not only the crystal clear ocean, but also stunning landscapes and mountains.
One of the main attractions in Mauritius is the Black River Gorges National Park.
With an area of over 6500 hectares, it covers 3,5% of the whole Island.
163 of the 311 endemic types of plants and 28 of the surviving species of unique Mauritian birds can be found in the National Park.
It also features some mountains offering stunning panorama views over the whole area.
The abundance of Flora & Fauna is simply breathtaking!
One of the key elements of the national park are the Alexandra Waterfalls.
The Alexandra falls are part of the Black River which has its source in the national park and ends in the Indian Ocean.
Waterfalls are always very fascinating to me - they give off such a strong energy!
While we were wandering around the National Park and exploring the woods, I felt like releasing my inner child.
As you know I'm always dancing and moving wherever I go, so I decided to play around with the slow motion feature on iPhone!
It felt like being Tarzan for a little while ๐
Another phenomenon within the National Park is the seven-coloured earth.
This landscape shows sand in different shades ranging from red to purple and brown, and is a unique sight.
The โseven-coloured earthโ of Chamarel is a geological curiosity and a major tourist attraction of Mauritius. This is a small (โผ7500 m2) area of strikingly bare landscape showing well-developed rills and various shades of red, brown, grey, and purple. Curiously, it is located within a large, dense forest. The colours are due to weathering of the basalt and the formation of secondary iron oxides and hydroxides in it, and the rilling is a result of deforestation and sheet erosion, i.e., human modification of the landscape.

You are so blessed to be standing at a place like that , the beauty of the earth is always so magical
You are right, I definitely feel grateful to experience something like this. The beauty of nature was incredible at this National Park
Really beautiful, nature is something that is amazing, it shines with its own light. Unfortunately, the human darkens it. These beautiful countries remind me of the parks of my country Venezuela. Luck and hopefully I can continue to see your adventures to live through you.
Thank you!
You are so right, nature is incredible and still continues to fascinate us although mankind tries to destroy it more and more.
Merry Christmas bro all the best wishes for you @sirwinchester
Thank you very much! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you as well!
This is incredible! Loved the whole post but especially related to >> Waterfalls are always very fascinating to me - they give off such a strong energy! Same applies to me; they give me life ๐
Mauritius is a very small country, but I hear that it is very friendly and has a low crime rate.
Your pictures let me know that it is beautiful as well.
Dang you have some good looking friends.
