Vienna amusement park Prater

in #travel7 years ago

Have a nice weekend, and we'll spend it in an amusement park called Prater. This park is a memorable sight of Vienna, and it is located between the blue Danube and the Danube Canal, almost in the heart of the Austrian capital.

The unusual name "Prater" in Latin means "meadow", that is, a spacious green area, which for several centuries has attracted many tourists as a magnet.

And I want to start my story with this ferris wheel, the oldest in the world. The wheel was built in 1897 by the Englishman Walter Basset, at an altitude of almost 65 meters. To make a full circle on this attraction is enough 10 minutes, but the pleasure will be great from contemplating the unique beauty of Vienna.

And the booths themselves are very original: the walls in them are made of mahogany, even the curtains are made in the Art Nouveau style, and what marble tables, handmade carpets and the most modern lighting.

In such booths you can celebrate any holiday or even hold negotiations at the height of a bird's flight.

You can get to Prater Park on a modern tram, or even better hire a bicycle (in Vienna, there are inexpensive rental points in almost every street). For especially hardy - walk on foot, and along the way at the same time enjoy an amazing coffee and enjoy delicious Viennese branded cake, called "Sacher".

Here you will want to come back again and again, because here you will find entertainment for every taste. In the Prater there is a puppet theater, a car park for kids, and a miniature railway with amazing bright trailers, and water slides, trampolines are installed everywhere.

Fans of extreme rest I advise you to test your vestibular apparatus on the "Wild Octopus", which catapults its guests from the 18-meter height. I, for example, really enjoyed canoeing, and one of the extreme carousels of the Praterturm type, a kind of tall tower with long-spun seats loosened on long chains. The head was spinning, but the sensations were unforgettable.

Watch the video of the carousel at 117 meters high and not only:

In Prater, you will spend the whole day, and do not even notice how the time will fly by.

But for many tourists, the main attraction of the Prater, of course, after the Ferris wheel, is the Schweizerhaus beer garden, which accommodates up to 2,000 visitors served by 125 employees.

In this restaurant you will try the excellent Austrian cuisine: I advise you to order the Aisbain, the famous Viennese schnitzel, or the delicious goulash with a mug of beer, by the way the choice of beer here is simply huge.

The entrance to the park is free. Prater starts working in March, and closes only in November.

And in the evening a real fairy tale begins here, everything shines with bright neon lights, fireworks all over the place, music plays, a great place for recreation and entertainment.

The Ferris wheel works all year round, even you can meet New Year's Eve here, almost in the sky.
