City Nizhny Novgorod
Nizhny Novgorod was founded in 1221 by Vladimir Prince Yuri Vsevolodovich as a stronghold for the defense of Russian lands.
In the period from 1932 to 1990, the city was called Gorky in honor of the Russian and Soviet writer Maxim Gorky. And in 2000 Nizhny Novgorod became the capital of the Volga Federal District. This city is famous for its Kremlin, literary critic N. Dobrolyubov, writers Maxim Gorky and Andrei Pechersky, inventor - self-taught Kulibin and many others.

Nizhny Novgorod has its own Kremlin, which consists of 13 towers, each of the towers has its own history, architecture, and even a legend.

But, they say, in order to experience the spirit of Nizhny Novgorod, you must definitely visit the Pechersky Ascension Monastery. It was founded in 1328, but then the building completely collapsed because of a landslide, but soon it was rebuilt, only in a new place.

And this is the area of the People's Unity. In distant times on this square decided to collect the militia of Prince Pozharsky.

There is in this city and its exotarium, which collected an incredible number of different mammals from around the planet. Today it is considered one of the most visited exhibition complexes. But the place that is not in Greece is a unique cableway through the Volga. And for the first time in February 2012, for a few minutes, the funiculares delivered passengers from one bank of the Volga to another. Today, the cable car is considered the main attraction of the city. Its length is 3361 meters, and the supports rise to 82 meters, and this yet - an unsurpassed world record.
