Klaipeda throughout its history has repeatedly changed its name. Many centuries ago in these places, the Teutonic knights founded a castle, which is called the Memel, called in German the river Neman. But next to the fortress is located the ancient settlement - the city of Memel (in its composition and entered the castle), after it was renamed Klaipeda. But "clumpy peda" translates from Lithuanian as "muddy track".

Today Klaipeda is the largest port and the 3rd city in Lithuania, and this town is located on the border of the Curonian lagoon and the Baltic sea. Klaipeda is the most Northern non-freezing port on the Baltic sea. The city itself was founded in August 1252.

The clock Museum was founded in 1984, here are the copy and design of water, sun, sand, fire hours, a lot of old calendars, there are various mechanical devices for measuring time from mechanical to Electromechanical, electromagnetic quartz and hours of our time.

In the late nineteenth century in this town all knew the smithy of one of the local masters of metal the blacksmith Gustav Katzke. And today this place is a Museum of blacksmithing. One of the halls which is in my collage, I think that photo will help you guess the city, since more such museums anywhere.

Of course, how to describe a city without a lighthouse, because that's what I put in my collage yesterday. Although the port in Klaipeda appeared in the XIII century, the lighthouse was only built in the late XVIII century. And it was built by the architect Johan Silentale.

But kuzuki - delicious cookies that are prepared here the best cooks advise everyone to try, is a Lithuanian national dessert.

According to the old drawings of Newfoundland fishermen in love with the sea Gintaras, Paulines, built the boat in the picture I put in the collage. Once this brave fisherman made it to Sweden, and today it is the ship adorns the exposition of the Maritime Museum.

The heart of the Old town of Klaipeda is the Theatre square with the beautiful building of the theatre, built in 1775, and a beautiful fountain Simon DACH. The fountain was built with donations collected by the residents of the city, and for the realization of the project invited the Berlin sculptor Arnold Kunne. There is a superstition that if you throw a coin into the water fountain, it will be necessarily a happy marriage.

The city has many beautiful bridges, and one of them is and this is such an amazing Ghost, he even manage to get the kids. People there is one striking legend, about how many years ago one of the guards of the castle of Klaipeda saw a Ghost who had told the guard that the city needs to increase supplies of grain and timber. Having said that, the spirit vanished.

Today, many citizens and guests of the city trying to "make friends" with a supernatural creature, they say it will bring wealth and good fortune. The cast itself is quite big - about 3 feet high, and cast it in bronze.

In Klaipeda you can listen to crimson and the sounds are pouring from the tower of the Central post office. The neo-Gothic red brick building is one of the most beautiful on the Liepu street, can't miss it. Here is a new Carillon is a secular musical instrument. It was installed only 10 years ago, and since then every weekend at 12:00 it pleases everyone bell melodies.
