For the first time the Russians appeared at the confluence of two rivers - the Amur and Zeya - in the summer of 1644, when the pioneer Vasily Poyarkov and his detachment stopped.

In 1653, the explorer Erofei Khabarov decided to build a jail on this place, but after signing in 1689 the Treaty of Nerchinsk was forced to leave the left bank of the Amur.

The monument to the Cossack pioneers in the regional center of Priamurye became a favorite place for the townspeople.
