Ratargul are called Amazon of Bangladesh. Rataragulo is the only Jawaban of Bangladesh or the Swamp Forest and Wildlife Sanctuary. Forest area is 3,325.61 acres, and 504 acres of forest is declared as Wildlife Sanctuary in 1973. This forest is located in the Fatehpur union of Gowainghat of Sylhet district, south of Guine river. On the south side of the forest there are two Haor: Shimul Bil Haor and Bil Bil Haor. It is 26 kilometers away from Sylhet city.
