Walk in the park in the winter. 

 A  favorite place for walks, in the middle of the old Austrian houses, is a  city oasis, a cozy and greenery place for rest, entertainment,  meetings, walks in the heart of the city - the park of Ivan Franko. The  park is located right in front of the Ivan Franko National University,  so there is always a feeling of youth, energy and romance in the air. So when you come to Lviv and want to hide from the crowds of tourists - come here.

Парк і́мені Іва́на Франка́ або Парк Івана Франка (в народі — Парк Костюшка; до 1779 року — Єзуїтський сад; 1779—1919 — Поєзуїтський сад; 1919—1945 — Парк імені Тадеуша Костюшка) — найстаріший та один з центральних парків Львова, розташований перед головним корпусом університету ім. Івана Франка (будівля колишнього Галицького сейму), Площа 10,5140 га.

 Ivan  Franko Park or Ivan Franko Park (popularly - Kosciuszko Park, until  1779 - Jesuit Garden, 1779-1919 - Poesius Garden, 1919-1945 - Tadeusz  Kosciuszko Park) - the oldest and one of the central parks of the city,  located in front of the main university building them. Ivan Franko (building of the former Galician Seim), area 10,5140 hectares.

It is considered to be the oldest city park in Ukraine.

The  park emerged on the territory of the former city streets, which became  the property of a wealthy bourgeois family Scholz-Wolfovich. At  the end of the XVI century, Jan Scholz-Wolfowitz laid a small garden,  which later turned into his son-in-law Antonio Masary, owner of the  building number 14 in Rynok Square. The young Venetian redefined the garden on the Italian style, breaking  down on the terrace, and presented it to the city, so that it could be  enjoyed by all the Lvovites.

City gardener Bauer carries out another major reconstruction of the park. This time, the park is re-planned on the model of contemporary English parks in the so-called landscape style. In the years 1877-1881, on the site of the "casket of Gekhta" are  constructed the building of the Galician Sejm, in the lower part of the  park are arranged wonderful parterre gardens with rich flower  arrangements, cropped bushes and trees.
To this day, in the park of Franko, only one survived - with antique columns, in the so-called Doric style. This graceful altarpiece - the rotunda, located in the heart of the park, was built in 1835.

Rotunda (Italian rotonda, latin rotundus - round) - circular in terms of construction, usually crowned with a dome. On the perimeter of the rotunda are often colonies. Rootonian  forms have ancient Greek tolos, some ancient Roman temples (eg, the  Pantheon) and mausoleums, baptistery, separate Christian churches  (mostly Romanesque, Renaissance and classicism), halls, as well as from  the 18th century. - park pavilions (or, in fact, park gazebos).

To this day, in the park of Franko, only one survived - with antique columns, in the so-called Doric style. This graceful altarpiece - the rotunda, located in the heart of the park, was built in 1835.

Ротонда ( італ. rotonda, лат. rotundus — круглий ) — кругла в плані споруда, зазвичай увінчана куполом. По периметру ротонди нерідко розташовуються колони. Форму ротонди мають давньогрецькі толоси, деякі давньоримські храми ( наприклад Пантеон ) та мавзолеї, баптистерії, окремі християнські церкви ( переважно романського стилю, епохи Відродження та в стилі класицизму ), зали, а також з XVIII ст. — паркові павільйони ( або ж, власне, паркові альтанки ).

До наших днів, у парку Франка, збереглася лише одна – з античними колонами, у так званому доричному стилі. Цю граціозну альтану – ротонду, що знаходиться у самому серці парку, було споруджено у 1835 році.

Вважається найстарішим міським парком в Україні.

Парк виник на території колишніх міських ланів, які стали власністю багатої міщанської родини Шольц-Вольфовичів. Наприкінці XVI століття Ян Шольц-Вольфович заклав невеликий сад, який пізніше перейшов в руки його зятя Антоніо Масарі, власника кам'яниці № 14 на площі Ринок. Молодий венеціанець перепланував сад на італійський манір, розбивши на тераси, і подарував його місту, щоби ним могли користуватися всі львів'яни.

Міський садівник Бауер здійснює ще одну кардинальну реконструкцію парку. Цього разу парк переплановується на взірець тогочасних англійських парків у так званому ландшафтному стилі. В 1877—1881 роках на місці «казино Гехта» споруджують будівлю Галицького сейму, у нижній частині парку влаштовують чудові партерні сади з багатими квітковими композиціями, стриженими кущами та деревами.

До наших днів, у парку Франка, збереглася лише одна – з античними колонами, у так званому доричному стилі. Цю граціозну альтану – ротонду, що знаходиться у самому серці парку, було споруджено у 1835 році.
