Daytrip to Trier, Germany's eldest town
Last Saturday, my girlfriend and I decided to Germany's eldest town Trier, which is also the place of birth of Karl Marx.
Coming from Belgium and driving through Luxembourg, the trip took like an hour. Pretty cool to go through three countries.
Arrived in Trier, we started at THE monument of the city --> Porta Nigra.
This is the city gate from the Roman time and is, of course, popular for picture moments.
Porta Nigra
While being there, we thought it would be a good idea to visit the city museum as the city has over 2000 years of proven history.
As being thought in history, there were many rulers and influencers involved during the development of Trier as it is today.

Fashion from 18th century. In my opinion a stylish black widow dress
After the interesting useful history tour, we walked through the city center to have dinner at Kartoffel Restaurant-Kiste.
Various German foods are served there. We had a steak to fill up the empty stomach.
At the restaurant. PS: the beer is alcohol free ;)
Having eaten, we did some shopping as prices in Germany in general are better than in Belgium, Luxembourg and France, so we were less shy...
A final thing we needed to do before heading back home was going up to the Mariensäule, a place where you have a nice view over the city.
This was a nice way to conclude our day.
If you happen to be in Trier one day, make sure that you go all the way up to the Mariensäule for some awesome views over the city and its area. It is also a pretty romantic place if you happen to be there with your partner ;)
I hope you enjoyed the pictures. Feel free to comment, I am always curious for opinions!
Greetings,
Stef
