San Diego - Belmont Park, Gas Lamp Quarter and the Border

Gas Lamp Quarter

This area was once known as ‘New Town’ when it was developed during the 1860’s, as opposed to the ‘Old Town’ Spanish section at the time. It os now the area for music and eating and Fish Taco’s can be found here!

International Border

San Diego is quite close to the border with Mexico so we thought it might be a interesting area to check out and do some shopping. The Las Americas Outlet complex sits righ on the USA side of the border. The border fence is actually right next to the car park.

Belmont Park

Just to the north of the city right on the beach is Belmont Park. It is a collection of stores and amusement rides that the kids wet crazy for. The Giant Dipper rollercoaster was built in 1925 and is one of the oldest wooden rollercoasters around. It was actually a great ride for an old rollercoaster. Admission to the park is free, you only pay for the rides you want to go on.

There are lots of great places in San Diego, it is a great city to visit.
