Aussie’s in the USA - Part 22 - San Diego Zoo
San Diego - The Best Zoo in the World
First stop after heading down the coast into Southern California was San Diego. My girls love the Zoo and there is probably no better zoo to visit than the one at San Diego. The zoo is huge and occupies a large section of Balboa Park, just a 5 minute drive from downtown San Diego. The zoo opened in 1916 and houses over 3700 animals from 650 species and subspecies.
There is a sky tram that traverses across the tree tops in the zoo, getting you from one side to the other quickly. Don’t rock the carriage or your wife/partner will kill you with her death-stare!
We started on one side of the zoo taking in the animals of the jungle, had lunch, and then tackled the other half of the zoo. I think the only area we bypassed was the Australian part.
It was a huge day and the kids did quite well. I would recommend this trip if you are ever in San Diego and looking for a full day out. The photos do not do the park justice and I could have added a few hundred pictures of animals!
Thanks for reading the next instalment in our trip around the USA.

I was there a long long time ago it is like one the few places you can see koalas in North America
Looks like fun :-D And it has an Australian animals section. How weird that would feel in another country.
What other animals did they have there besides the ones on the pictures?
