Come with me - swimming with dolphins in Mauritius

One of the best Mauritius attraction was speedboat trip to Isle aux Benitiers. We thought about taking one by catamaran but our hosts advise us to take the boat. Catamaran is slow and dolphins are super fast. You have to change directions all the time and following them, which I think is impossible while you are on big and not so agile catamaran.

We started our trip in the morning. Organizers took us to some hidden beach near Trou aux Biches where the speedboat was waiting. After we picked up others participants (9 people), we went South. There was so many beautiful views on our way. The shoreline is really interesting, someplace rocky, other sandy or with a lot of plants.

There were two stops in our way. First one, in the middle of the ocean, where we first saw dolphins. You might went to the water to swim with them (snorkel mask and fins was assured by organizers). This amazing creatures was really close to swimmers. Some even claimed they touch them. The other stop was in shallow lagoon where we dived to see corals. It was really nice. You might see really big variety of fishes, small ocean creatures and of course some corals.

Next stop was Ile aux Benitiers. We spend there really nice day sunbathing, walking around and bathing in shallow, perfectly aquamarine water. There were people selling hand-made souvenirs, playing the guitar and singing. We had lunch provided, which included some nice food and beer. It was a really nice, peaceful day.

After few hours we went our way back. We saw dolpins again and chased them for few minutes.

The trip took about 6-8 hours. It was really nice. You can find it in every tourism information center on the island. I strongly recommend to take the speedboat instead of catamaran if you really want to see the smartest ocean mammals.

The price was around 2000 MUR.
