Places You Must Visit Before You Die! #9 ( Maui Island, Hawaii )
Maui Island, Hawaii
About Maui Island
Maui is an island in the Central Pacific, part of the Hawaiian archipelago. Sprawling Haleakala National Park fringe the island’s highest peak, volcanic Haleakala, as well as the pools and waterfalls of Ohe’o Gulch, ingress via scenic, winding Hana Highway. The island's 30 miles of beaches include golden crescent Kapalua, covered from strong currents by lava rock promontories.
History Of Maui Island
Legends say the demigod Maui dragged the Hawaiian Islands from the sea and lassoed the sun atop Haleakala, the island's highest peak. The island of Maui was named after this mythological being, perhaps since the form of the island is said to look like his head and body.
Places To Visit In Maui Island
. Kaanapali Beach
Maui's most popular strips of coastline, Kaanapali Beach expanded over 3 miles of the island's northwest coast, offering plenty of place to surf and sunbathe. . Haleakala National Park
Haleakala National Park is on the Hawaiian island of Maui. It’s home to the reposing Haleakala Volcano and endangered Hawaiian geese. The Leleiwi and Kalahaku miss the precipitous Crater Road have views covering the West Maui Mountains. Rough trails in the Summit District pass cinder cones and lava flows. In the coastal area of Kipahulu are the Pools of Ohe’o, fresh water pools and water falls set between bamboo forest.
. Napili Beach
Though not almost as costly as Wailea or Kaanapali, bow shaped Napili Beach is especially famous with families. Napili's waters are much serene than those at other Maui beaches, so kids and adults can take to the seas for swimming, paddleboarding and boogie boarding. Plus, Napili Beach provides a quiet, laid-back ambience that sunbathers love.
. Waianapanapa State Park
Waianapanapa State Park is a 122 acre state park in Hana, on the island of Maui. It is situated at the end of Waianapanapa Road off Hana Highway, 53 miles east of Kahului, Maui
. Hookipa Beach
The winter time waves at Hookipa Beach are so white and foamy that extreme surfers and wind surfers can not stay away. The water is certainly too violent for swimming, but if you are even remotely intrigued about surfing, you should stop at Mile 9 down the Road to Hana to take in the action at this extend coastline near Paia in Upcountry Maui.
